CHS Alumni Newsletter #9
July 15, 2007

Always trying to promote things our Alumni are involved in I thought this was a worthy series of events to let everyone in on. As most people know Gayle and I are involved in raising money to restore and rebuild the Historic Wayne Theatre. The Historic Wayne Theatre is located on Michigan Avenue between Wayne Road and the State Wayne Movie Theater

We are putting on Concerts every Saturday at 6pm throughout the summer on our outdoor stage. We have had the Livonia Civic Chorus, Arlen Rocks, (Formerly with Salem Witchcraft and another Churchill Group Stiletto.

I am happy to say we have a few Churchill Alumni helping us out. This Saturday July 28th is a great concert. Complete with Buddy Holly, Gene Pitney and our own Old Friends Four. Old Friends Four is made up of five people. Helen Epskamp (Class of 74) Beth and Sharon are the three Churchill Alumni.

Old Friends Four has three part female vocal harmonies, backed up by wonderful guitar expertise, poppin' bass, singin'mandolin, awesome trombonium playing and the occasional violin. One of their sets replicates an old time radio show, including musical commercials.

They also offer a complete set of childrens songs, as well as seasonal favorites for the Yuletide. Maybe a little Christmas in July music will be added.

August 11 we have a band called War Machine, one of the top KISS Tribute bands in the country. See if you can pick out who Kenny Mann (Class of 84) is behind the make-up. Also with Kenny is another band most will remember from the 70’s. A band we knew as Nobody’s Children,, Now known as Second Wind.

This is a small sample of the great entertainment we have donating their time and energy to help out a great project. Every Saturday at 6pm out on the front lawn of the Historic Wayne Theatre you will see Gayle and I working each event. Well I will be missing Aug 25th because I will be down the street running the Don Nicholson Charity Car show. This is also a show to Benefit the Historic Wayne Theatre. So if you have a hot rod, race car or restored classic car, please join me on Simms just east of Wayne Road.

If you have actually read down this far, we also have a way for people to help us out who are too far away or too busy to make the concerts. We are doing a mail in donation program called, Mail a buck, save the Theatre. We are trying to set a record on the most one dollar bills raised to save a Historic Building. So please send a dollar to The Historic Wayne Theatre, 35164 Michigan Ave., Wayne, Mi. 48184. For questions or more info www.HistoricWayneTheatre.com 734-658-5296 or e-mail don@donnicholson.net Thanks for your time, Hope to see you at the Theatre.
