17 days till the Bash!

June 17th 2006 is not far off. Please mark your calendar. Remember this is a fun family day. Bring the kids and the parents! You can plan on spending an hour or the whole day. Early birds can join Gayle, Denise, Don Reed and myself for breakfast around 8:30am. The actual Bash runs all day, until 6pm

We are doing what we can to get the news out. Please feel free to print out flyers from the website at www.ChurchillAlumni.com and post them anywhere you can. If you happen to know of a cable company or TV, radio listing we are not on, please forward the info to me. Or feel free to post it there yourself.

We are trying to do a couple different things this year. One is to have an auction. Tom “Buzz” Buzzell (Class of 71) did a great job auctioning off a Churchill sweater last year. So we have asked him to help us out again this year. So if you have anything to donate to the cause please let me know what you have for the auction and we will add it to the list. Auction time is 2:00pm!

Auction items already obtained are a genuine CHS Varsity Letter (thanks to Ron Garrett ’71), Hand made iron candle holder (donated by Chief Andrew Gurka, Dearborn Heights Fire Dept.), a “Day the Earth Stood Still” (Klaatu Berata Nicto) T-Shirt (donated by Gayle Nicholson ’73), several Don Nicholson Charity Car Show 2005 T-Shirts (donated by Chris Don Nicholson ’73). Other items have been promised, but we won’t see them until the day of the Bash.

Wouldn’t a Bake Sale be a great idea? That way we’d have lots of munchies while visiting in Hines Park! How about volunteering to run this portion of the Bash? We will also need people to contribute their baking talents, as well as people to help out otherwise – preferably several people so that no one is sitting there for the whole day. Please let me know if you can help out in any way.

Picture time is 2:00pm. We would like to take a group photograph of as many people as possible. Yes, even those who are on the witness protection plan can hide in the back row and wear a mustache!

One of the ways that we are working with Churchill is to support the Golf outing for the Churchill Athletic Patrons. Mark your calendar for a party!

Churchill '74 graduates turn 50 in 2006, so we have decided to put on an event to bring the class together again. The event is Saturday, July 22nd, 2006, 6:00pm - 12:30 a.m at Hawthorne Valley Country Club in Westland. The evening will consist of a sit down dinner, a professional DJ and a cake. There will be a cash bar. No dress code! Dress up, or dress down. It's YOUR party. The cost is $35.00 per person. They will be mailing out the invitations in late spring/early summer. Space is limited at the banquet hall. We recommend you respond promptly if you want to attend. They will be using the mailing list from their 30 year reunion. If they did not collect your mailing address, or if your address has changed, contact the "74 Geezer Committee."

Some members of the class of ’71 decided that it is time to hold a 35 year class reunion. The date is September 30th at the Italian Epicure, 42050 Grand River, Novi MI 48375. Time is from 6:00pm to 1:00. The location is very cozy so seating is limited. Don’t be disappointed…..order your tickets TODAY!!
